• Today, Gameforge publishes the successful fantasy MMO Runes of Magic in a fully localised version for the Italian market. At the same time, a dedicated Italian server is being launched. With this, Gameforge continues the free-to-play MMO’s victory march, which celebrated its fourth birthday in March this year. The Italian version joins the current language versions of German, English, French, Spanish and Polish.

    Taborea awaits new warriors

Free-to-play MMO Runes of Magic is one of the most successful games of its genre – the world of Taborea is already home to 12 million created characters. Runes of Magic takes players on an epic journey, guaranteeing players endless hours of gripping adventure. In over 5,500 quests, brave fighters defy danger, visit countless dungeons and explore the fantasy world on their mounts.

The innovative multiple class system is praised by players and critics alike. It offers gamers the chance to combine up to three classes in one character, thereby creating a completely individual hero. Runes of Magic is made whole by its complex crafting system, multitude of skills and challenging instances of various difficulty levels. Outside of combat there is also plenty to do for the heroes of Taborea: they can furnish their own houses, look after their pets and pit themselves against other players in fun minigames.

Localization complete: i’s dotted and t’s crossed

For over a year, eight translators were entrusted with the localization work and have adapted all the content, right up to the finest detail, for their native language: during the time-consuming localization process, around 5,500 quests, over 6,000 monster names and a total of 1.85 million words were translated. This then offers Italian players the best possible gaming experience.

Upon the game’s release in Italy, a dedicated server is also going live – however playing on this server is voluntary. Italians can also log in on a server with a different language and, for example, play with English players – yet all texts and screen displays will remain in Italian.

“It couldn’t have worked out any better for Runes of Magic. Recently we popped open the champagne to celebrate the game’s four year anniversary and now we’re thrilled that Italian players can also start enjoying one of the most successful MMOs on the market,” said Steffen Ramm, Product Director of Runes of Magic.

Runes of Magic – a success story

Runes of Magic has been continually developed since its launch in 2009. A total of 50 larger updates have been published to date. This is set to continue in future as well, with plans for the game to be regularly enhanced with new content. All previously released updates are also available in Italian. The hard work has certainly paid off: over the years Runes of Magic has won various awards, including the GameStar Award for outstanding price-performance ratio, the Gamona Reader Award in the “Best MMORPG” category and third place in the categories “Most Classic MMO” and “Favorite MMO” at mmosite.com’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

  • Publisher Gameforge has today thrown open the gates to a new region for Runes of Magic players, Chrysalia. The region was shaped by the power of the four elements and is home to a new raid instance, the Kulech Bones Nest. In this challenging dungeon, groups of up to twelve players can enter into battle against belligerent ant creatures, gruesome maggots and an evil ant queen. The latest episode of the RoMcast is also out today and shows scenes from the region, giving a closer insight into the new content.
Chrysalia lies in the north of the Taborean continent, a region carved by deep canyons that can only be traversed using the rickety bridges swaying above the drops. The region is inhabited by two ant-like races, the Garon and the Kulech. The Garon are peaceable sorts and friendly to adventurers; the Kulech however, are to be feared and only approached if you are well equipped and prepared for a savage battle. The path to the Bones Nest instance will lead players by the serene Sanctuary of Balance, past mysterious investigation camps and production plants, through to the bloody battlefield. This is where the best of the best come to take on the Ant Queen and her hordes of minions.
Das Flythrough-Video gibt einen weiteren Eindruck von der Landschaft, die Abenteurer ab heute erkunden können.

  • A new threat is stirring to the east of Taborea with expansion of a new region, Chrysalia, arriving in the coming week that is stuffed with never before seen foes, tonnes of quests, and a highly demanding instance. Thundering waterfalls, bubbling pools of lava, and huge ant-built structures will greet new adventurers. This ancient land and native home to the true dragons is currently being plagued by the Kulech, a clan of exceedingly aggressive ant creatures. The new flythrough video will give a first impression of the landscape which you can explore starting as of the 25th of September.

Chrysalia lies on the coast of the continent of Kolydia. The tempestuous storms across the ocean make their presence known in the coves of the region as a dusty and driving wind, undulating the bridges constructed by the allies to connect the disparate cave systems. The force of the four elements has shaped the land since time immemorial and has created a host of perilous anomalies. This region is inhabited by two different types of ant-like Myrmex. The Garon are the more peaceable of the two races and, in a nod to symbiotic development, their counterparts the Kulech are belligerent and hostile.

On the itinerary for you budding adventurers are also the more secluded corners of Chrysalia, such as the Edliss Ruins to the south, the Bloody Battlefield, and the Kulech Bones Nest – the new instance. Fierce battle awaits against the Queen of the Myrmex, which will determine which of you are the true heroes.

  • With an impressive cinematic trailer, Frogster have entered the home straight for the release of Runes of Magic: Chapter V – Fires of Shadowforge on 12 June 2012. In a sequence of breathtaking shots, the story of the Shadowforge Dwarves unfolds as the new playable race that lends its name to the chapter. For generations, they lay undiscovered in suspended animation. Now they are set to unleash their magical powers and advanced smithery on the demons of Taborea.

The Shadowforge Dwarves, who once belonged to the clan of the Fireboot Dwarves, experimented with dark magic and the elements from time immemorial. When a dark magic experiment went terribly wrong, all inhabitants of their underground kingdom were turned to stone. Not until centuries later did the royal reconnaissance patrols discover their dormant bodies and lift the curse plaguing their race. Soon you will be able to create their own Dwarven characters and will have the option of assigning them to two new exclusive classes: the Champion and the Warlock. The Shadowforge Dwarves have slept for long enough; now they must rise to action!

Frogster is also hosting a special event in the form of a live stream on Thursday, the 7th of June. Anyone interested can tune in via the hosting service own3d.tv from 8pm CEST to watch a group of players take their first steps into the new region. In addition to the new race and its exclusive classes, the new high-level instance, the Aeternal Circle, will also be presented.

  • Slyco @ 18:43 - 05.06.2012
  • In less than two weeks, on 12 June, the successful MMORPG Runes of Magic will be expanded with its fifth chapter, Fires of Shadowforge, and the doors will be opened to a surreal and hostile land utterly desolated by firestorms. In the Ancient Kingdom of Rorazan, mechanical golems and spirits go about their dastardly business and players will also find the new high-level instance, the Aeternal Circle, in which four powerful rune guardians challenge the courageous to gruelling battles.

The Ancient Kingdom of Rorazan is situated in the west of the new continent of Kolydia. For generations, the inhabitants here lived in peace with one another. However, when underlings of the demon mage Maderoth released an elemental being, the King of the Fires, from his centuries-long imprisonment, a violent explosion erupted. The resulting blaze reduced vast expanses into nothing more than wastelands. The only remaining inhabitants now are the spirits, mechanical beings, and fire elementals capable of surviving this burnt terrain.

In the north of Rorazan, players will find the entrance to the new high-level instance, the Aeternal Circle, available in two different levels of difficulty. Four powerful rune golems have fortified themselves here, and after each boss battle, a riddle will have to be solved before players can teleport into the next area. In the final battle, players will pit themselves with sword, shield, and spell against the über-powerful Da‘dalodin.
