Adharcach – New Race, Classes and Zones

We digged very deep into the data of Runes of Magic again and about a month ago our data miner Keili noticed some strange new things which immediately caught our attention – but what was coming up to us wasn't really clear. However after we had a closer look at the new game version 5.0.9, we got a very clear picture:

There will be a new playable race in Runes of Magic, called Adharcach, with two new classes. Furthermore we found two new open zones and three instances.

There are some hints that the new race is some kind of centaurs or a race of horses, although unambiguous references don't occur very often in the data. However very often “four hooves” and a “horn” were mentioned. Within the quest texts the NPC always use the term “ride” instead of “walk” or “go” if they want to send the player to a certain place to fulfill a task. Furthermore we also found the word “raft” very often, presumably a wooden raft which is meant to travel on rivers.

We were able to draw the conclusion about the two new classes because the skill data is already partially implemented into the game. We did not have time yet to have a close look at the skills, but one of the classes seems to be a supporting kind. The other class is pretty strange. It mainly uses physical attacks and we found skills which take the aggro for a short amount of time, but it also has a lot of skills to stop or obstruct the enemy or to keep him in distance.

Due to the many details which we had found we contacted Gameforge directly and asked them if they would like to give a comment. Surprisingly they immediately confirmed our assumptions and told us the new race will be called Adharcach, and the two new classes will be the Gleeman and the Lance Bearer. The appearance of the Adharcach is related to centaurs, but their most important characteristic is a huge horn on their forehead, similar to a unicorn. Obviously the development seems to be almost finished, because when we overwhelmed them with all out questions, they just asked us to give them a few more days before we publish our informations, and in return they agreed to answer at least some of our questions about the upcoming content. They even gave us instantly the answers in the form of a FAQ for those questions, which will be the most important and most frequent ones according to their opinion.

FAQ – Adharcach

General Questions

When will the new race be released?
At 31st of April 2013.

Why did we never hear of the Adharcach before?
The Adharcach live very secluded. They destroyed all the knowledge that existed on Candara, Zandorya and Kolydia to secure their shelter.

Will there be special mounts for the Adharcach?
No. The Adharcach can't ride, as they have four hoofs themselves. Instead we'll offer special shoes that speed your Adharcach character up.
We even plan to implement, later on, a saddle so your character can transport other characters via the „invite for a ride“ function.

Will there be special costumes?
Yes, we plan to implement special costumes for the Adharcach to cope with their special body shape.

Will the new race be playable with both genders?
No. The Adharcach are only playable as females. Male Adharcach usually stay in their homes and care for the children.

New Continent

Are the new zones the starter zones for the new race?
Yes, that is correct. As with every race we'd like to introduce the new race along with their personalized zone.

Can players use the rafts in Aonka as a regular transport way?
The rafters are like the sturobolds and can transport your character all over Taborea. If you like you can also jump on a raft when it sets off and thereby travel the rivers and canals.

Many starter zones don't feature such high levels. Why do the new zones? Will there be a fourth class?
We're currently not planning on extending the multiple class system. With the increasing maximum level we just found it about time to implement zones that help you leveling up.

New classes

Gleeman: Does that class have skills similar to musical instruments?
Not only that! They have even skills that increase the effects of these instruments. And all Gleemen can build all instruments by nature as soon as they have reached level 35.

Gleeman: “They turn the power of physical attacks into might for magic.” What is that supposed to mean? Is physical attack turned into mana?
Gleemen are close combat fighters. Each time they attack they stack up “music magic” power which they need for spells. This is like a mix up of the warlocks PSI system and a warriors rage. Plus 50% of their physical attack power is converted into magical attack. A well balanced Gleeman should build 1/3 magical and 2/3 physical damage.

Lance bearer: Is that a tank class?
Yes, the lance bearer is a tank. But it's different to what we know so far. The lance bearer does not protect the group with the usual “Hey, hit me” aggro system but with keeping the bosses on distance or distracting them.

Both classes: Which armor class will the classes equip?
Gleeman can wear cloth armor and from level 20 on also leather armor. Lance bearer start off with chain armor and can equip plate from level 50.

In the following days and weeks we will present you the maps of the two new zones and the three new instances here at RoM-Welten.com. Furthermore we will try to collect for you the information about the new class skills and the new elite skills although the data about those doesn't seem to be complete. For example, on the one hand we couldn't find the elite skills for gleeman/rouge and gleeman/priest, but on the other hand lance bearer/rouge and lance bearer/priest seems to be possible. In return the elite skills for lance bearer/knight and lance bearer/mage are missing for this class. Yet we already can tell you, that some of the new combinations will get really interesting elite skills. However how well these combination can be played and how well they blend with the world of Runes of Magic, is something we don't know yet but we will experience it in about four weeks.

Adharcachic Greetings,
your RoM-Welten Team
